Focused Communities of Learning

Students at each grade level are assigned to a "cluster" of approximately 115 students. Each cluster is taught by a "team" of teachers.

Julia Sapeta, a 7th grader here at KMS, came in First Place for her essay “Refuse to use…Never Alone.  She is the Elks Lodge Essay Contest National Winner! This is the first time a student from New Hampshire has ever won this contest at the National Level. Congratulations Julia!

This is our eighth year participating in the Rachel’s Challenge Program that inspires, instructs, and enables students to bring about positive change. 

During the school day, there will be two assemblies, one for 6th grade and one combined for the 7th and 8th grade, as well as a Friends of Rachel Club Special Training in the afternoon.

KMS Student Flu Shot Clinic

The KMS Student Flu Shot Clinic will be held on Wednesday, October 14th from 8:20 - 11:00.  If you want your child to receive a flu shot at school, the signed permission slip must be returned to our School Nurse, Jenny Audet, R.N. by Monday, October 12th.  Cheshire Medical Center - DH-Keene is administering the shots, so the date of the shot will be recorded in your child's electronic medical record.

On October 15th all staff and students will participate in the Great Northeast shake out.  The Great Northeast shake out is the day designated for the practice of the emergency  procedure is to drop, cover and hold. The most recent earthquake in NH was on October 16, 2012 at 7:12pm. It was a moderate earthquake which was felt in much of NH.  A magnitude of 4.0 was recorded by the US Geological Survey.For more information please see http://shakeout.org/northeast/

Attention Showchoir: Rehearsal is TODAY from 2:40-4:00. Please bring your music and shirt/snack order form!

7th and 8th grade Art CLub will begin today. Please wait in the cafeteria until 2:45. Art club will run from 2:45 to 3:30.
Attention students who are interested in the  National History Day program. The second informational meeting will be held after school today.  Interested students only need to attend one meeting.  The meeting will be held in Mr. O'Mara's room- 2405.  Wait in the bus room until the meeting time at 2:40.
Attention cast of Into the Woods. Today's rehearsal is for Cinderella, Cinderella's mother, Baker's Wife and Princes. Check your schedule for specific times. Wednesday's rehearsal is for everyone until 4:00.
The first Math Counts meeting of the school year will be held on Wednesday, October 7, from 2:45 to 3:30 in Room 2404.  Please wait in the bus room for someone to get you.   Any student who signed up for Math Counts and those interested in joining should plan on attending.  Please see Mr. Paone if you cannot attend.
Today is International ride your bike, scooter  or walk to school day.  Walking and riding your bike to school could be alot of fun but always remember SAFETY FIRST! You MUST wear a helmet and follow all bike and walking safety rules!
For students that are interested in being an OCAC Ambassador. Please get your paper work in to Mrs Stacey the IMC before Wednesday when we will have an afterschool meeting to decide what our goals are for the year.
